The inner smile meditation is such a simple yet effective Taoist practice, and ancients believed that through smiling, your organs release powerful secretions that nourish your entire body. You may notice, that when you smile, your mood immediately lifts, even if in a small and subtle way. 

 

Try it now! You don’t have to feel actually happy. But if you smile down into your body you will feel that your mood improves and that endorphins are released. The Taoists even believed that by practicing an inner smile your immunity would improve and white blood cells would be released into your system.

 

It’s truly a relaxing and beneficial practice. Probably the simplest practice of all too. What’s not to love?
